Meet Me at the Table

We do not have a separate dining room. Our table is in the kitchen, which has its advantages for homeschooling little ones. I can make our breakfast and clear the table while the kiddos are getting going on various projects with momma close by. Since we are only dealing with preschool, these tasks range from matching, writing, coloring, etc. Today's agenda so far has included puzzles and play-dough. Pretty low key. I thought I would share this recipe with you  for some of the best play-dough ever (I have no idea where my sister found it.) We made this batch in February, and by storing it in a Ziploc bag, it has kept wonderfully.

Play-dough
2 c flour
1 T cooking oil
1 t cream of tartar
2 c water
1 c salt

Now you too can make some slugs or other creatures to join you at the breakfast table!

On the Mend

You know momma has been sick when...

....this is the state of my living room. Yikes! Mom needs to get going again. I've had a sinus infection for almost two weeks now and have tried multiple home remedies. In the meantime, I have found ways to stay busy while camped out on the couch. Including my first yo-yo. Here is a little sneak peak of some new projects I have underway.

Taking a Sick Day(s)

Hello again! We are having a sick week, so any progress of any kind is on hold around here. Having three little ones not feeling well when you are sick too is a bit of a challenge. I keep telling myself, "At least it is not the stomach flu. At least I am not at the hospital and we do not even need to see the doc at this point." For us, that is good. Really I can't complain because we have hardly been sick at all this year. We are grateful for that! I will be back as soon as this cold/flu lets up. Until then, stay healthy out there.

Growing Pains

Lucy has been getting use out of it. Perfect for her dolls!
My friend Caroline is due to have her baby girl in the next couple of weeks. She sent me some fabric to make her a nursing cover. I also wanted to try a small patchwork quilt, and have discovered some things along the way. Learn from your mistakes, right? This time I used a rotary cutter and board (watch the fingers!) which helped me get exact sizes and nice edges. But next time I need to make the squares even larger to account for how much you lose when you sew them all together. Seems obvious, I know. Measure twice, cut once. But it is fun experimenting and in the meantime, baby has a little blankie with colors inspired by vintage wine.

On Baby Showers

We just got home from a baby shower. My friend had her first beautiful baby girl a couple weeks ago, and she scored some beautiful new things for her. I'm blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of generous, inspiring, creative women. It was a nice chance to get out of the house and see all these moms who, like me, have been in hibernation the past several months.
I made some bibs and a skirt for the gift. I'm still tweaking the skirts a bit, but I love how simple they are to make.

Apparently Lucy's first trip to the dentist was exhausting!

Sounds of Spring

The kiddos are all taking their daily rest, including little Adelaide who is snuggled in my lap. The birds are singing sweetly outside my window. Reminder of spring just days away! Alright, so this may not be a spring bird. It's actually a Christmas ornament we made for my sister's co-workers this year. But you get the idea!
